The Islanders Model Airplane Club visited with Girl Scout Troop 1889 to
help them earn their Aerospace badge. Two working RC planes were brought.
The girls learned some basic aeronautics, how the RC planes are built and how
they operate. They all took turns manipulating the control surfaces of both
planes and it seems the 27% Pink Cap really went over big.They all learned on
a RC flight simulator, how to take off, turn and land. They each built a kite
from scratch and balsa gliders. If you ever get a chance to help a scout troop with their aeronautics or aerospace badge, take it, it's extremely rewarding
to work with these young minds.
